Ivana Stražić
"Slimy love story"

I come from Zagreb although I'm originally from Vukovar. As every true girl from Slavonia I like sausages, kulen and a good carp. I sing in a choir, play volleyball and apart from English I speak Italian and French. In my free time I study biology. It has been my love ever since I accidentally swallowed a snail. The life has later showed me that there is no such thing as accident so today biology and me snail together.

Marina Martinić
"How to change your destiny"

I'm a student of experimental biology at the Faculty of Science in Zagreb. Ever since I could sit I've loved to watch National Geographic and Sir David Attenborough's documentaries. I've always liked to explore nature's laws; inspired by Newton, I discovered gravity at the age of six when I tried to turn wooden trains into roller skates.

I'm the head of the Molecular Biology department of the Biology Students' Association BIOS, and in my free time I draw in charcoal, cook, read, and write poetry, novels and project applications.

Ana Čavka
"It's all hormone's fault!"

My name is Ana Čavka and I come from Osijek. I'm 25. A year ago I graduated from the school of medicine and after I recharged my batteries during the summer I started working as a research assistant at the Department of Immunology and Physiology. At the same time I do my internship at the University Hospital Centre Osijek.Besides my work with students I work at the lab studying microcirculation so I'm discovering the pleasures and sorrows of science.

I've been singing in my parish’s church choir for twelve years already. I love to read a good book and watch films. I look forward to every new travel. But most of all I get pleasure from spending time with my friends.

Ivana Grizelj
"Anyone care for a sushi?"

My name is Ivana Grizelj and I come from Osijek. I'm 25. A year ago I graduated from the school of medicine and started my PhD studies. I work as a research assistant at the Department of Immunology and Physiology and at the same time I do my internship at the University Hospital Centre Osijek.

I look forward to every work day because I spend time with students and do experiments at the lab studying microcirculation. Despite all my commitments I manage to find some free time for what I like most: my friends and travelling.

Ante Lončarić
"Nanotechnology, cure for cardiovascular diseases"

My name is Ante Lončarić, I come from Osijek and I hope I will graduate by the end of this year. I study at the Faculty of Food Technology in Osijek. I love science as much as I love food, which explains my choice of career. I spend my free time with my friends, every day in a different way.

I'm a great music lover. Recently I decided to try making a music career by playing the guitar in my room, at least until I learn another song. I love life and I look forward to every new day.

Ivana Tolj
"Pssssssst… not a word?"

My name is Ivana Tolj. When I grow up I am going to be a doctor. I'm at my last year of studies in Osijek where I come from and where I went to primary school and secondary school of science and mathematics. I participated in the Science Festival in the previous few years (one of my workshops was the most visited of the Festival) so I now wanted try something new.

I spend my free time with my friends, I ramble a little and somehow the day always seems to be too short for all my plans. They tell me I talk too much (which of course is not true) so I was looking for I way to explain this scientifically and connect it to monkeys, anthropology, medicine and other people to somewhat excuse myself…

Marin Vojković
"How to find art in science"

I study environmental physics at the Faculty of Science in Split. I like science because it is very useful and it is the basis of all the technology. It is very interesting and gives us answers to the question how the world functions. I participate in several research projects at the Faculty and I meddle with all science popularisation events because I want to transfer my enthusiasm and zeal to others.

I train aikido, play the guitar and recently also glasses, dance salsa and swing. I like to read, play party games and watch Dr. Who.

Dinka Roščić
"Take-off, flying, landing"

My name is Dinka Roščić, I come from Baška Voda. I graduated from the Vocational School of Economics in Makarska and now I study computer science at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Split

When I’m not walking my dog, I spend my free time in the car, not just driving it but also tuning it. My hobby is auto acoustics. At the moment I can reach a sound level of 128 decibels, but I hope this number will increase.

Filip Mužina
"Doppler story"

My name is Filip Muzina. I am 25 and I volunteer in service of science popularisation. I dream of a better world and future, I play, dance, travel and in my free time I study physics.

Sania Kuzmac
"Hopping genes"

I am a molecular biologist and I work as a research assistant at the School of medicine in Zagreb where I study osteoclasts – interesting bone resorbing cells. When I'm not looking for discoveries I pick guitar strings at the Rock Academy and read about string theory and parallel universes. What I enjoy most is dancing, sunny days and laughing with my friends.

Ivan Kljaić
"Look into my eyes"

My name is Ivan Kljajć and I come from Požega. I study informatics and hopefully I will graduate in the next few days. Informatics will soon be my work, but it is also my hobby. Of all the disciplines of informatics I pursue biometry because I want to connect other sciences to informatics and show its benefits.

I used to play piano, but I soon realised that God gave my talent to somebody else. The same thing happened with sports so I now have hobbies in areas where no talent is needed (e.g. watching films).

Igor Rončević
"Groping in the dark"

I came from Zagreb where I study chemistry. I like science because I'm interested in how things function and science can answer that. I started playing pool because in school I was learning about collisions and particles. At the university I realised that I'm far better at computer work than lab work so my thesis now is in the field of computer chemistry.

I like computer chemistry because it enables us to "see” molecules, how they dance, join and separate. Except for pool, in my free time I play D&D, jog and yog.
