Martin spa is the latest and best equipped Croatian spa that can compete with the finest of Slovenian spas. Its quality has been recognized in the recently completed campaign of the Croatian Radio and Television and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, in which the spa won the first prize in the competition of thermal and mineral health resorts. Although their history dates back to the late 1912, the former Vuckovec spa, and today’s Sv. Martin na Muri was built in this year and opened on June 16.
They have more than 1700 square meters of heated water with the state of the art system of water purification and a lots of water effects, unlike many other Croatian spas. Throughout the year, the guests can enjoy 1.100 square meters of water with all accompanying attractions. In the spa there are six pools and four large Jacuzzis, one of which has thermal and the others regular water. There are 600 square meters of indoor pools, with recreational pools with water effects, thermal pool with hydromassage jets, kiddy pool and three Jacuzzis, one with thermal, two with regular water. The water temperature is 28 to 34°C, so therefore the pools can be enjoyed by those who don’t like warm water, and by those who think that the water in the pool should be refreshing. Connected with indoor pools, the spa has outdoor pools open throughout the year. The outdoor pools with a total of 450 square meters, consisting of a thermal pool with massage seats placed in a circle for 90 persons, and a recreational oval pool with a wild river, massage jets, a cave, waterfall and a Jacuzzi on an artificial island. The pool complex includes a wellness with a steam and Finnish sauna, and the guests can also enjoy aromatic relaxation baths in the hydromassage tub with thermal water, medical massage for the entire body, partial massages, reflex therapy of the feet, aroma therapy and combined massages, manual lymphatic drainage and acupressure massage.
The largest toboggan complex in Croatia
In the warmer part of the year, the outdoor part of the spa with the large aqua park with largest complex of toboggans in Croatia, provides enjoyment to all those who enjoy an adrenaline rush. You will find body slides, rafting slides, kamikaze, black hole and a water trail for three persons. Next to the complex there is a pizzeria, pastry shop and a large solarium with free deck chairs and parasols. On the weekend, the pools work until midnight, so you’ll be able to enjoy night swimming. Next to the swimming grounds, across from the reception, are the sports courts that include a small football court, a beach volleyball court, a basketball court, table tennis tables and boulles ground. Next to the sports grounds, right next to the pools is a running trail, that stretches mostly through the beautiful woods. The fishermen will be able to get their kicks because there is a great opportunity of an organized trip to Mura backwaters, rich with fish. Those braver can enjoy rafting on this beautiful river.

Healing properties of the water
According to the balneologic analysis, the thermal water in the Sv. Martin na Muri has a strong mineralization, iodine, fluoride and temperature properties. The mineralization indicates that the water is dominated by the hydrogen-carbonate and sodium chloride. According to the ion composition, the water has minimal calcium, magnesium and sulfate. The water temperature has not changed from its discovery in 1911 until today, and is 34 degrees Celsius. It is recommended for treatment of degenerative diseases of joints and spine (arthrosis, lumbalgia, lumbosciatica, cervical syndrome and so on), of inflammatory rheumatic diseases (rheumatoid arthritis), joint contracture with atrophy of muscles and scars, dislocation injuries, damage to soft tissue, massive scars and so on, extrajoint pains and soft tissue disorders (various forms of neuralgia, neuritis, myalgia, pains and shoulder contractures and so on). The recommended treatment is massaging and soaking in thermal water.
Sv. Martin Spa lies near the town of Sv. Martin na Muri, a 15 minute drive away from Cakovec, and an hour from Zagreb. Road signs lead to the spa from the main road Cakovec-Varazdin.
