In the small town of Lupoglav, located at the very entrance to the Istrian peninsula, stands the Leader restaurant, a part of the Country Club complex. The enterprising managers of this complex came up with numerous sporting content and unique accommodation for their guests. Namely, the overnight accommodation is organized in six small Istrian houses called kazun, and guests have an open pool, tennis court, bicycles, riding school, boulles ground and organized hiking trips at their disposal. The Leader complex can be quite an original excursion destination, and it is also a destination for many lovers of true Istrian domestic cuisine. Namely, the Leader restaurant with a successful 14-year tradition is a place for natural and tasty eating.
The first association on this place are the smells and tastes of home made meat and meat products, warm home made bread, wild asparagus, boletes and truffles, home made pasta and smoked ham, home made cakes, wine and brandy. All the meat, vegetables, mushrooms, milk and dairy products, flour, eggs, wine are home made or purchase from manufacturers who produce in the classic and healthy way. Pasta, bread and cakes are prepared in the restaurant. This place is also known for preparing dishes under the lid and on spit, and for its classic Istrian specialties like ombolo, game with gnocchi, rabbit in a pot, asparagus.
During our last week's visit to Istria, we tried a true spring delicacy in Leader – young lamb meat under the lid with potatoes. For hors d'oeuvre they served us excellent truffle fuzi and cheese ravioli. We enjoyed these home made delicacies and the beautiful relaxing atmosphere, and the owner described to us in detail all the content and Istrian delicacies they prepare.
