On the Independence Day, the long expected tourist complex Plavnica was opened in the Skadar Lake National Park. Ekoturs worked on the project for several years.
However, the complex is yet to receive the building permit, which is the prerequisite for starting with operation. Apart from that, Plavnica facility is in violation of the existing physical plan for the Skadar Lake, which prohibits building of any facilities by the lake.
This example sent a negative message to the public at the moment Montenegrin Government announces an “energetic action” for fighting illegal building, with an emphasis on six coastal districts. Minister of economic development Branimir Gvozdenovic said earlier this month the Government had formed a special task force consisting of several ministers and mayors of six coastal districts, which would be in charge of preventing illegal building.
