Romania’s President Nominates Victor Ponta as PM-Designate

Romania’s President Traian Basescu said on Friday he nominated Victor Ponta as prime minister-designate after the government lost a no-confidence vote earlier in the day.

Ponta is the leader of the Social Democratic Party, PSD, which controls around 130 seats in the parliament.
