Telenor Montenegro Q1 Operating Profit Falls 19% Y/Y

Norwegian telecommunications group Telenor said on Tuesday the operating profit of its Montenegrin unit fell 19% on the year to 29 million Norwegian crowns ($4.99 million/3.8 million euro) in the first quarter of 2012.

Telenor Montenegro's customer base decreased by 60,000 in the quarter mainly due to prepaid subscriptions cards being deactivated as part of the prepaid registration requirements. At end-March, the subscription base was 5.0% lower than a year earlier, the parent company said in its quarterly financial report.
