On Monday, the Croatian Roads announced the public tender for the contractor on the project of building the bridge between Peljesac and mainland. The deadline for submitting bids expires on August 28 and minister of transport Bozidar Kalmeta confirmed the construction should start already this autumn. The contractor will have to complete the project in four years and value is estimated at HRK 1.9 billion, or nearly EUR 260 million.

The minister says the biggest infrastructure project in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County will have impact on the transport development of entire Croatia. The construction will be financed by the Croatian Roads, i.e. from road fees collected from the price of petrol, and loans by European investment banks.
